WHAT-CARE-SHOULD-YOU-TAKE-FOR-YOUR-CURLY-STRAIGHT-WAVY-FRIZZY-OR-FRIZZY-HAIR Overcare

WHAT CARE SHOULD YOU TAKE FOR YOUR CURLY, STRAIGHT, WAVY, FRIZZY OR FRIZZY HAIR?

To have beautiful hair, it is essential to choose the treatment adapted to your hair type. Indeed, our hair has needs that differ depending on its nature. Oil, mask, shampoo, etc. There are different 4 categories of hair. Did you know ? To choose the right treatment for your hair, you need to know the category to which our hair belongs. That's not all ! You must also take into account the thickness of the hair, its density and its porosity. This information will allow you to target the products necessary for their maintenance or styling. Here are some essential concepts:

  • Porosity is the hair's ability to preserve water and therefore hydrate;
  • Density is the amount of hair you have on your head;
  • The thickness corresponds to the diameter of your hair: a small diameter means fragile hair; Conversely, thick hair is more resistant.

Several tests exist to help you evaluate the porosity, density or thickness of your hair. The best is to make a diagnosis with a professional hairdresser to avoid any misinterpretation.

HAIR TYPES ACCORDING TO WALKER OR LOIS

There are two methods to determine which category your hair belongs to. The 1st is the scale of André Walker, an American hairdresser who was notably the hairdresser of the very famous Oprah Winfrey. The second is the LOIS classification. The Walker classification is very precise, enough to make you a real expert. It includes four main categories; straight hair, wavy hair, frizzy/curly hair and kinky hair. These same categories are divided into subcategories (A, B, C). So, when we talk about a 3b hair texture, we are referring to “curly hair”. This method has made it possible to work better on so-called “textured” hair because, being more precise, it allows us to better understand these types of hair and compensate for the lack of training of professionals around these types of hair. The second, LOIS, is more playful. This more recent system allows hair type to be labeled by letters. It defines three hair characteristics:

  • Structure of the hair,
  • Hair size,
  • Hair texture.

But to properly determine these characteristics, you must first wash your hair, leaving aside any chemicals and then examine your freshly washed hair.

Finally, you need to dry your hair and see where it falls. In this article we will use the Walker classification, because it is better known.

STRAIGHT HAIR

Straight hair is more resilient than curly or frizzy hair and it is naturally shiny thanks to the sebum that flows to the ends. This is ideal for avoiding dry hair. However, they tend to grease quickly and lack volume. They also get tangled at the first gust of wind. First, to prevent your hair from tangling, you must moisturize it well with a suitable, non-weighing treatment. Then, when your hair becomes greasy, the best thing is to wash it as little as possible! The ideal is once or twice a week because the more you wash your hair, the more sebum present on your scalp is secreted. It’s what makes your hair greasy!

WAVY HAIR

Wavy hair is either noticeably wavy at the ends, for a wavy look, or from the roots. Not to be confused with curly hair. This type of hair is not always easy to tame! Their beautiful curves don't always withstand a night's sleep. When you wake up in the morning, avoid using classic hairbrushes at all costs as they risk breaking your curls and damaging your hair. Preferably choose a comb with large teeth. Curly hair does not require as much hydration as frizzy or frizzy hair. Preferably use a shampoo daily to remove all impurities. Conversely, the application of a conditioner is not obligatory since the shampoo already helps with detangling and styling. Use a moisturizing milk or spray serum (diluted with water) once a week.

CURLY OR FRIZZY HAIR

Curly and frizzy hair requires a routine similar to that of frizzy hair, but requires lighter dosages. The main risk on these hair types is damaged and dry ends, which break the curl and make the hair dull. Instead of using a daily hair milk, it is recommended to apply it every other day to avoid product overload. The best is to dilute the serum with a little water to lighten it, then apply it using a spray bottle all over the hair. Concerning the detangler, it is not systematically necessary! It is recommended depending on the knots present in the hair.

FRIZZY HAIR

Taking care of this frizzy hair requires time and dedication since a complete routine is necessary. Frizzy hair is very dry in nature. Hair care with strong hydrating power is therefore a priority. We recommend that people with frizzy hair use a mask or oil bath every other time before daily shampooing. After shampooing, you should apply conditioner to help detangle. For detangling, fingers and patience will be your allies. In fact, it is preferable to detangle with your finger so as not to break the hair. We also recommend that you use a clarifying shampoo which will deeply wash the hair fiber of your hair.
